ANY INFO ON A FAMILY CALLED WOODS BEFORE 1861.
I have John c1819 Down,Ireland
  wife  Mary c1821 Louth,Ireland
  kids James c1860 Cleator
         John c1864 cleator
         Mary c1865 Cleator
         Catherine c1867 Cleator
         William c1868 Cleator
         Thomas Patrick c1870
 by the 1871 cencus the family had moved to barrow.
The family are Roman Catholics and Im having trouble finding any records.What I would love to find is when the family moved from Ireland then I may be able to find a marriage but if anyone can help with anything even chidrens baptisms it would be much apprciated as I've now hit that brick wall

As John and Mary were from diffferent parts of Ireland, it seems reasonable to think that they may have met and married in Cumberland (especially as son James was born in Cumberland).

There were a couple of John WOODS marriages in Whitehaven district

Q2 1857 10b 724 (There was a Mary Ann DAVIDSON on this page)
Q2 1859 10b 765 (No Mary here)

You didn't say whether you had found them in 1861 - if not, they are in Cleator with son James (1), but John is 41 and Mary 32.
