Title: what year and what ship???

Looking to find what year james robert baker emigrated to australia, he was born 1870 in west ham essex england and married a clarice mabel hague in townsville australia 26/10/1909.

any info greatly appreciated

have looked on the links to victoria shipping lists.

Do you  know  if  he emmigrated alone?

have you found him  on  the census in  the uk?

also  do  you have any further info  after his  marriage

If he died in Queensland - his death certificate would show how many years in Australia - which would help work out when he arrived.  If you don't have the certificate maybe someone can do a look up for you.

http://www.archives.qld.gov.au/research/index/immigration.asp#immigrationindexes  is the Qld lists for - 1848 - 1884.

Hi Moira

Do you know if your man came alone - or with his family. Have you found him on any census (81, 91) in England. The online indexes only cover to 1884 and are for assisted immigrants only. There are many more records in the "card files" at the Qld archives (if he immigrated through Queensland).

There are 2 children listed on the CD to 1914 - do you have these details?
