Title: 1851 census Woolwich Arsenal
Post by: Hudggy on Sunday 10 September 06 12:06 BST (UK)
I wonder could someone please look up for me William Calderwood age approx 23 years in the 1851 census for London Woolwich Arsenal. I am hoping to find my 2nd great grand father I do not know where he was born or anything about him. Before my great grandmother Elizabeth Calderwood born in England married my great grandfather in Glasgow 1883. William on his death certificate was an army pensioner and I believe he may have been at the arsenal in1851.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can do the lookup for me.

Regards Hudggy

Hiya Hudggy - his wife wasnt with him, the census just notes that he was a Married man...

Ref the other chap - no more info than I have given other than the census reference.

I thought the Scottish link might have been of interest given the other info you provided.

Let me know if you need more ?

Kind regards

Thanks again ScRopper I believe if the second chap is also William Calderwood that might be my 2nd Great grandfather. In the census for 1881 in Glasgow he is stated to have been born in England around 1828. I have found 2 off his children born in Greenwich one 1885 the other 1861 so he must have been living their for a while.
This I hope breaks down one of my brickwalls.

Thanks again for your help
