My great uncle Frederick Harvey born Ipswich 1904, emigrated to Canada & died unmarried in Barwick,Ontario, circa 1940's. There did exist a photo of him looking like a "Trapper" standing outside a log cabin. I do not know when he emigrated, but instincts say between 1912 & 1925? His mother died in 1912 & his father remarried in 1914. I have not been able to find the father's death but he died before 1925 when my gran married & as the step mum was a witness I guess Fred had aleady emigrated? Also the step mum went on to remarry a man she had been a house keeper to, so I wander if she had coped with a young step daughter but maybe Fred went into an orphanage & was sent abroad as a child, or did he go of his own accord as a young man? If only we asked more questions????????? Of course the date of death of his father would help, but I have scanned the BMD Indexes to no avail, why do these people vanish? Any help re how to trace Fred's emigration appreciated? Thanks in anticipation Diana

Hi, This is a long shot. I found an English cousin who emigrated to Canada when he enlisted in Canadian Expeditionary force for WW1. I do not know if your relative would have done any army service maybe just after that war in his late teens maybe? The site was very easy to find on Canadian family history pages. Sorry do not have exact URL. My 3rd cousin Hubert (Herbert) Lyne Combe disappeared after his military service - so I am in same boat as you.
Best of luck
Linda

Thanks have made a note of this, but think he may have been a bit young born 1904? Any thing worth a try though? Good luck with your searching. Diana
