Hi All,
Can anyone see a Richard Chatt in the 1841 census?
I am unsure of when he was born, but he married Eleanor Scott in 1831, at Bywell St Peter, Northumberland.
Had one child, Jane Scott in 1827 (yes she was an illegitimate one!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Is there any sign of them in 1851?
I have a feeling Richard died before then, as I ofund a couple on the freebmd.
I know they went on to have another few kids, in the 1840s.

Yes that is strange that is...I have been searching the IGI but cant find her mothers birth neither...I was wondering perhaps Jane was child to a previous marriage, and her 1st husband has died, but can't find anything.

Hi,
I am also wondering about this family, from the Armstrong side. John Armstrong was born slaley son of Edward Armstrong and Mary Ann. I too though that Ann was his second wife. Any info would be greatly appreiciated!

Chatt family in 1841 census.
They were living in the community of
NEWTON KILN HOUSE ( probably houses built adjacent to a kiln house) which lay within the bounds of the "township" ( a sub-division of a parish) of NEWTON, which lay within the bounds of the parish of BYWELL ST.PETER

This does look like Edward Armstrong and son John. Edward was a woodman in the baptism record. And Ann was most likely a second wife as I suspected in your post from yesterday
Remember that John Armstrong was only baptised in Slaley, he was born in the parish of Bywell

I wonder if the one I am chasing is related to the same family?
The one I am looking for was born in 1956 and Christened in 1957 and is entered on the Durhamonline web site but I can't find a record of him anywhere else.
