Could anyone please do a look-up for me in the Kendal area?
I would like to try and find a birth/christening for Mary Robinson, born around 1808. The area is Kendal, but I don't know who her parents might be.
A tall order I know, but thought I would see whether anyone might be able to help me. Many thanks.

Hi
I looked at this some time ago and thought that Robinson was such a common name and when it is Mary Robinson....
Anyway, as no-one has responded here is my two pennerth!
Kendal records should be on the IGI so the first port of call is www.familysearch.org If that fails then it is more likely that she was born in an outlying village so you need to check them too.
Can you quote a census record? How do you know her age and birth place? Who and where did she marry? What did she call her children?
Maybe you have found her by now but if not then this may help.

Oh dear, I did a search for baptisms on the IGI for five years either side of 1808 (just in case you got her age from 1841 when it is rounded down to the nearest 5) and there were so many Mary Robinson's it is going to be very hard. Children's naming patterns is going to be very important. Good luck!!

Hi there
I have exactly the same problem, however, my Mary Ann Robinson came from Preston area and on her marriage certificate to my Great Grandfather Thomas Fazackerley, her father is named as Richard Robinson (late) to which you can imagine the research.
Like looking for a needle in a haystack :(

Hi, and many thanks to you both for taking the time to try and help. Sorry to only now reply, but have been away on holiday since end of October!
I do have an age and only family names of her children once she had married Henry Freeman. Other than that ... nothing!!
Oh well - I can't even find a marriage for her to Henry, so I don't really know where I can go next. Anyway, many thanks again - good luck to you both in your searching.
