Has anyone got any ideas where I can gather info about the Clarence Hotel on Doyle Street, Hook please...J
Joseph Broughton of Knighton, Leicester was a Licensed Victualler at this establishment in 1881...I would love know if there are any Images or interesting facts about this establishment!
Any help would be much appreciated ~ ;) Treetotal

Hi,
I see from your profile that you are in East Yorkshire so it might be worthwhile to contact Goole library as the have a large section on local history.
happy hunting

Hi, The Clarence hotel Doyle Street was in a district called Old Goole, in a map I once had it showed it being near the Dutch River (Don). The Gas Works was built on the site of the Clarence Hotel or very close to it. I lost the map when my computer crashed or I would have sent you it. Hope this has helped you.
Regards, Keith.

Thanks for taking the time to response Keith :-*...I now have Ordnance survey maps for the years 1892, 1907 and 1956...and one with current detail overlay showing how it looks today.
It would have been so nice to be able to have a "Pie and a Pint with the past ::) ::) ::)
That's progress for you ::)
