Hi
Is anyone able to check when the following family moved from Durham, England to America.
John Harrison born ca 1835
Elizabeth Harrison born ca 1835
Amelia Harrison born 1860
Miriam/Marian Harrison born 1862
From the information i've got I think it was about 1865 & believe they lived at Pittsburg/Pennsylvania before Elizabeth & children returned to England before the 1881 UK census.
Cheers
Jay :)

Hi
That looks like my family.
They did have children Florence & Sara Elizabeth who I thought were both born in America.
Florence marriage cert says she was born in West Middlesex, Mercer County.
Cheers

PS Still hoping to find them a passenger lists to see when they went out there.

Does anyone have access to any passenger/immigration list that can check for this family.
My family believe they arrived in New York before going to PA.
Cheers

JayG,
Have you tried the Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild at immigrantships.net? It can take some slogging through years and ship names to find something but I've located a few ancestors that way. Best of all, it's free!

Joe

Hi Jay
Arriving in New York on 27 October 1864
HARRISON, Elizabeth, 28, wife, from Durham
Amelia, 3, child
Miriam, 1, child.
Destination Pennsylvania.
Ship: Cultivator of New York.
Unfortunately, I do NOT find John on the same vessel. :(
It was quite usual, I believe, for the husband to come ahead of his family to establish home and work.
Hope this helps.

Hi Valerie
Thanks for finding them.
I'm not sure where you've found that info but does it state when they left England?
Cheers
Jay :)
