Title: Looking for Robert Jones in Chester area?
Post by: Kim in Qatar on Friday 18 August 06 14:13 BST (UK)
He was the father of Alice Jones who married my great grandfather Robert Lyon in 1910 in Chester. On their wedding certificate he is recorded as being an engine driver.
I have some family documents that list her siblings as Samuel,George,Tom,W.Jones,J.Jones,Connie Jones and Barbara [married name Wilbraham]

Thank you,it could be them as Robert Jones was said to be Welsh and Hawarden is just over the Welsh border.

Hi Anna,
yes Saughall is just outside of Chester,a few miles from Hawarden.I know the area reasonably well as I used to live in Chester and Connah's Quay.
Three of the brothers in this family were killed in WW1,George,Tom and Samuel Jones.
There is a Samuel Jones  on the war memorial in Saughall.
I wonder if Annie and Connie are the same person, perhaps there was a mistake in the census.
