Hello from me here in Ireland to everyone in Ozz
Anyone be able to find out about my Great Uncle Mike Healy
We were told that he ran a bar in I think Russell Street Melbourne up till he was 90 he died we think in about 1950 -3 he emmigrated to Victoria pre 1900 living an iteressting time in Bendigo running a hotel as far as we know among other things we were lead to believe that he was mentioned in the papers at the time of his death
also had other brothers and sisters who were in Victoria
any snippets gladly welcome as all contact has been lost with that branch of the family

There is so much about the vic' goldfields and in particular Bendigo that I would do a search, victorian goldfield history bendigo:Also look for the Mildura and districts family history (may be genealogical) society. If he ran a pub in Bendigo at that time, he is almost sure to crop up.

Here is a page from one of my favourite prospecting sites containing an article that will give a good insight into the Bendigo your uncle knew.
Also of interest is the fact that there appears to be quite a few healy's still in and around Ballarat.

His Fathers Name was Francis (Frank) Healy His mothers Maiden name was either Mullally or Dowling
He was born around 1860 in Wicklow Ireland(Ballinascullogue) we think given his reported alleged age at the time of his death in the 1950 s He may have arrived in Victoria about 1880 -90 ish
Ran a pub and small store in Bendigo later in Melbourne I heard it mentioned in conversation that it was in the same street as the Old Jail (should have paid better attention at the time)
He had Sisters Esther Louise who also emmigrated in We think 1900 I was given the name of the ship once but I have missplaced it their ages was given as 21 and 25
and were listed as "Dressmakers"
Any Usefull information in those bits ?

Just in case you're not familiar with the place, Malv E is I think East Malvern, which is an inner suberb of Melbourne.
-
I know one of his sisters lived in Pilly Street St Kilda
would ..Malv E be in the same area ?
-
Hi
Pilley Street St Kilda would be about 6 kilometres away from East Malvern.
In modern days 15 mins drive by car, with traffic etc.

Hi Fozzy, this is possibly the death of Mikes wife Annie O'Connor, if so it is 23 years before his death in 1932. Your Uncle Mike may very well have remarried.

G'day Fozzy, me an angel?...that's funny ;D
These are all the entries I could find re the children of Louisa and Esther. Some had death entries but not birth entries. There is also a possible 2nd marriage for your Great Uncle Mike, it is the only marriage I could find for Michael Healy after 1909.
Cheers and good luck with your search

Thank you ever so much you have helped me out more than you could know.
Lots of leads to work on now.
-
G'day Fozzy, I am happy to help.
This may be another one of your tribe, his birth would have been C.1879.
Also Louisa age 21 and Esther or Essie as she is listed, age 25, arrived in Victoria in December 1900 aboard the ship OMRAH.
