Title: Mossop
Post by: Shaztoni on Thursday 17 August 06 19:15 BST (UK)
I am researching this family for an article I'm doing here is all the information I have.

Two Mossop sisters Mary born abt 1804 married Joseph  Matterson and Eleanor married John Russell in Cumberland. They left for limerick in the 1830s.
Other Mossop brothers moved over to Limerick in the 1830s
John Mossop born abt. 1785 married Mary Ann ? born abt. 1787. I think their children were Clement born abt 1817. Thomas born abt 1826. Eleanor born 1823 (this children were born in Cumberland)

The parents of Mary (1804) Eleanor and John (1785) were possibly Clement Mossop and Ann ? who married 1784 in Gosforth

I know it is a tough one. I can't see anything on the IGI.

Thanks

The information you have is correct.  Clement Mossop/Moscrop married Ann who was also called Mossop.  Ann was of Moorside, Gosforth.

Joseph Matterson started a bacon curing factory in Ireland and prospered.

Would be interested to know the main topic of your article so could give further relevant information.

Cheers

I got my hands on a letter written by the Mossop sister's niece about life in Limerick in the 1880s, so was looking into her background to put a base to the article.
The article is now finished and was published in a local journal in December.

It is possible to read this article anywhere as I am connected to both the Mattersons and the Mossops?
