I am trying to find the fathers of Michael Goadby and his wife Ann. I have found a marriage date of 5th November, 1789, in Swithland. He married Ann (Johnson?). I think Michael was born about 1766 in Rothley. Ann may have been born in Newtown Linford. They had a son named William Goadby who married Jane Henson.
Many thanks

Many thanks for your help. I only had part of the information - some of the children and baptism dates but no deaths. I have been looking on the IGI site and have come across quite a few Goadbys - which I think must be the ones I am looking for. My grandmother was a Goadby and I am sending for her birth certificate to confirm her father (William Goadby born about 1866 in Newtown Linford). Thanks again for your help, its much appreciated.

Greeting's again Wendy
I can confirm the Marriage from
Phillimore early Parish Marriage
transcriptions :-
Michael Goadby ~ Ann Johnson.
5th November. 1789.
St Leonard Parish Church
Swithland Leicestershire.
By LICENCE.
I did find it in the Parish Registers
this afternoon at the Records Office Wigston.
But it was only a two liner
from what looked like the
Ministers (John Llwyd.... Rector )
pocket note book:-
Micheal Goadby ~ Anne Johnson.
5th. November. 1789. by Licence.
So...... I'm not able to state the parents names ...Sorry.
MIKE.

Thanks Mike, much appreciated. So I am on the right line for the Goadbys - they are from Croxton, Rothley, Newtown Linford and surrounding areas. I had hit a brick wall as I couldn't find Michael in Newtown Linford - he was born in Rothley. I have found an Ann Johnson who was born in Newtown Linford (baptised 4th Nov 1765) with parents Henry and Mary Johnson. They also had another daughter Sarah (baptised 6th July, 1769 - Newtown Linford) who married William Norman on 8th Jan, 1788, Newtown Linford. William Norman is the brother of Barbara Norman who married William Henson - Jane Henson's parents (she married William Goadby 7th April, 1829 in Newtown Linford). I think these may be the ones I am looking for.

I have some information of Michael's ancestors going back to William 1663, and Mary. It's all on page 19 of the Goadby papers (as attached) written by Brigadier Franz R.L. Goadby. The descendants are on Page 20
