Does anyone know the any information or the address of the County Hotel in Ayrshire? My Mother seems to remember it being near the coast but has lost the address. I can't find anything doing a general internet search or from the Yellow Pages.
Any information would be helpful.

Hi Amy,
There used to be a County Hotel in Wellington Square in Ayr, Ayrshire. If that's any help. The telephone number was 01292 263368.
It was near the sea.
Kind regards
Hoppity :)

I know, it's so sad. I saw one of the flats up for sale a little while ago but I would have loved to have a look around before it was sold as it used to belong to my mothers family.

I must say I do prefer how it looks today, although it would be nicer if it was still an hotel

There used to be a side entrance, you went downstairs to a function room called the Harlequin, hubby and I used to go on Saturday evenings in the early seventies.

I remember when I was young that the "County" was always considered quite posh but in its later years it became much more run of the mill.

I used to go to the County with my parents late 50`s early 60`s.I seem to remember the owner had a St Bernard dog that had the habit of lying down by the door, big draught excluder ::)

I feel the need to chime in and say how nice I think this row now looks. Whoever did the renovations/conversion seems to have done an excellent job.
I would say that this may have originally been a row of houses (inhabited by the wealthy), then obviously converted to a hotel, and now back to more how they would have originally looked, albeit turned into flats. :)
