Title: William East WHITE, wife Frances nee Knight Melbourne 1850
Post by: penshurst on Sunday 13 August 06 06:54 BST (UK)
Is anyone researching this family line - they arrived from London with 11 children about 1850?

I would love to be in contact with a descendent to continue the family story.

Surnames from 1850 onwards - BROADLEY FLETCHER STEPHENSON CARTER KAY MILLSON AHERNJENKINS CLARKSON GROSS

Hi my name is Lyn and I live in Melbourne. Your White's are connected to my tree.
Thomas East Fletcher was my GGGrandfather. I am on the Wellings side of this tree. Frances Fletcher married George Wellings. Please message me and I will give you my email address to contact me. Your William East White was he the son of Elizabeth Fletcher and William White? I don't have any information on this line except that Elizabeth married William White. Would love to fill this brickwall. I have most of the other information. We can put our trees together and more than likely join them in together and help each other. Elizabeth Fletcher was the daughter of Charles Fletcher and Ann Lomax (Lomas) She was Thomas East Fletcher's sister.
Will tell you more when you message me back.
Regards
Lyn

What is your surname and suburb. I may be able to connect to you via phone.
I don't think they allow personal emails etc on this site.
Love to be able to share info with you.

Howdy,

I am interested in this tree as well - I am helping a friend trace their ancestry, and she is descended from via White->Broadley->Earp.

I'd love any info you might have on that particular branch, or back up her tree,

Damien

Hello Damien :-*
I hope this gets to you.
It is ages since I have done any family line and it's taken me a while to get back on 'rootschat'.
Where are you and the 'friend' based?
I am more than happy to talk about the WHITE line - but - not over the internet - I feel I have been taken advantage of to many times - giving out my researches and getting nothing back - to me it is a shared experience.

I'm afraid I don't have too much to give back - its a relatively new atempt to trace stuff out :) but I'll check with my friend to see if she is ok with sharing (I would guess so).

We're in Melbourne - I would be happy to email you privately, but I'm afraid I've only used rootschat a little so I don't have access to the PM function...

Hi All,
dm1973, you only need one more post to be enabled to use personal message.
This is a lovely chatty forum and although sharing by Personal message is a great support facility, the primary purpose is sharing and helping publically online on the boards.
sOOo.. post another little note on the board, and you will be in the swim! :)

Well Damien - I am sending another message to you - I think this will increase the posts so that we can PM - not really sure whether that is so - I've tried to find a straight forward statement on what that all means and how to do it but all I can ind is lots of ' smart ' chitchat and little help.

Hi Damien,

Joy's suggestion is very good, post some replies on this thread.   Not sure, I think you need 3 posts, to be able to pm etc.

Joy is up to 99 at this minute, and about to go from "Extra" to "member".  Congrats Joy.

Cheers,

MA

Joy perhaps read this link which includes the info in italics below......and  may I suggest to always refer to  How To Use Rootschat Board if you need information.

http://www.rootschat.com/help/index.php

Info on pm's

http://www.rootschat.com/help/pms.php

If you are sending PMs to new members who have less than three posts you will receive an error message, that your limit, or allowed number has been reached. (note that it says your limit, although it actually refers to the recipient.)

Cheers

cando, the instructions do seem pretty clear on the links you have kindly posted above.  Never easy to get the hang of it all at first I guess :)

Hi all

Just thought I'd let you know we have sorted ourselves out and now can exchange email addresses.

The PM was straight forward when I went directly to the Help site but I started by following a link that was more a chatter list of responses so got really confused. :D

Hi Lyn,
I am Maurice and my GG Grandfather was also Thomas East Sutcliffe. His son Henry married Elizabeth Stewart and my Grandmother was Ellen Fletcher. I live in Gippsland and have some information and am aware of the Wellings but only in th 1800s. I am sure we can swap information an fill hole in our records.  I am listed under morryack if you wish to send a message.
Regards Maurice.
PS I think his wife Sarah Wilding is buried in Carngham Victoria in 1867 ( Our GG Grandmother).

Hi Lyn,
I live in Gippsland and am also a decendant from Thomas East Fletcher. I don't know what information you have but his last born son Henry was my Great Grandfather and died age 30 of pneumonia and left a wife and young family. The children were all fostered and his wife Elizabeth Jane Stewart vanished from all records I have traced so far.
thomas's wife Sarah Elizabeth Wilder has no death certificate but died 1867 and I think is buried at Carngham Cemetery.
I have as the parents of Thomas East Fletcher, Charles Fletcher and Ann Taylor and their family in 1841 as:
Elizabeth b 1820
Thomas East b 1821
Valentine b 1823
Sarah b 1826
Hannah b 1833.
Do not have children information before or after this family.
They live at 60 Lane End Great Marlow which seems to be in High Wycombe. Google Earth gives a view of the house but too modern to be our families I think. Dont know where the East comes in but must be before this family.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Maurice
