Please can you see if there are any Titterington & Simpson connections to the 'Scotland' Adel Mill, Leeds between the 1841 - 1901 census returns.
I believe the family lived in the cottages built along side the mill.
I have limited information, but here goes... I would like to know if you have knowledge of;
SARAH TITTERINGTON m.
John? SIMPSON, of Adel Leeds, a Flax Bleacher & Foreman at 'Scotland Flax Mill', Adel.
Sarah & John's children (possibly);
Isabel Simpson m. John Kettlewell
Fanny
Amelia
Christine
Joe
Arthur
There were also, family connections to a Kendal family of Whixley \ Kirk Hammerton, Yorkshire.
Sorry my information's so limited, and as soon as I find more details, I'll be back.
Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Sheila, thank you very much for your help and yes you have the correct family.
Do you think it's possible to find John Simpson & his family back in Watford or Jane Titterington with her family in Gatebeck?
(Jane's surname might not help)
I've found the small villages of;
Gatebeck is in Lancashire and next to the villages of Sedgwick, Stainton, Endmoor & Old Hutton.
Bentham is close to - Lower Bentham, Burton In Lonsdale, Ingleton, Newby & Clapham. (These villages are close to the borders of Lancashire & North Yorkshire)
John Titterington b 1804 Whittinton
Whittington village is exactly between Gatebeck & Bentham.
I look forward to reading all about them.
Thank you,
Jed

Hi again Jed
I couldn't find either family in 1851 but found the Titterington's from 1871 in 1841. A small part of the Yorkshire 1851 was water damaged.

Fewston, Yorkshire
John Titterington 38, Bleacher
Eliza 38, Rover
John 16, Doffer

Jane 2
All born in county
I did wonder if this was Jane's family but her age is out a little. What do you think?
Will have a look for John Simpson.

This is the only John Simpson showing b Watford around the right time on the 1851.

Sarah 55, b Wendover Bucks
Charles 29, Servant, b Aylesbury Bucks

John 14, at home, Watford Herts
Hope this helps.

Hi Sheila, thanks lots.
Possibly not if 'all born in the same county' Yorkshire - might be an Uncle though?
Jane's 'Gatebeck Westmoreland' follows right through, so this must be her birth place.
Titterington is a great surname to follow, I'll do some 'surname' hunting and I'll try and see where - Fanny Crawshaw 64, Aunt, b Bentham Yorks. comes in to the equation too.
Thanks,
Jed
