Title: Indexed 1871 Census for Lancashire

Can anyone tell me if  the 1871  for Lancashire has been indexed. I am looking for Arthur J Jefferson  or sometimes surname Gough, who would be 8 years old in that year. His mother was Harriot Jefferson or Gough, In 1881 she was a boarder at 51 Churchill St, Chorlton on Medlock with her son William Jefferson, Thanks

Hi Stan,

Could you possibly tellme and others where Arthur J Jefferson/ Gough was born or how old his mother would be on the 1871 census and where she was born?

It all helps to narrow them down.

Arthur J Jefferson was born Sept.  12th 1862, in the 1901 census he gives Lichfield, Birmingham as his birth place, In the 1891 census he gives Birmingham, Warwickshire,
His mother Harriot, was born c 1830/33 in Birmingham.  In 1871  she would be 38 to 41 years old, [she gives two ages on previous census]
Arthur had a sister named Clara born c 1851 and born Birmingham. she may also be on the 1871 census.  Stan

Thankyou for the information, but not so sure if its the Arthur J Jefferson/Gouch I am looking for, the age and birth place seem to be correct, but he didn't have a brother named Alex, I expected to find him living with his mother Harriot.  Thankyou for your hard work, much appreciated. Stan
