Hi Ch3eky
I would suggest getting in touch with the burials department at Medway council - see the link under the cemeteries section on the following page of links:

Hi Ch3eky
Did you have any luck with finding his burial?
Casalguidi :)

Hello Casalguidi,
Thankyou for your reply.
No luck. When I asked at the council it was quite expensive as they had to do a search.
Best wishes
Ch3eky.

Hi Ch3eky,
Castle Road Chatham is still there, you can find it by searching on multimap.com and once you have fixed it, you could then have great fun zooming in on it using googlearth.
Cheers

Hello Dave, Thanks for the info, never thought to take a look on Googlearth. It will be interesting to see where they lived as Grandad was always telling us about his allotment in the back garden and chickens they kept. Many thanks. Ch3eky.

It is possible he was buried in Maidstone Road Cemetery, if you care to post his name I will have a look in my Monumental Inscriptions fiche.

What was his name, and the date of his death in 1933? If he had a Naval funeral, it might have been reported in one or more of the local newspapers, which would give the burial place. Even if the funeral is not reported, there may an ordinary death notice, which would give the information.

Hello , thankyou for your reply. His name was Albert Kerridge, born 1883 and he died October 1933 age 50 years. He was a Pensionable Chief Petty Officer, Royal Navy. He died at Royal Naval hospital Gillingham,Kent. Best wishes.Ch3eky

I just had a look at the index to the Chatham News, and there is no obituary or funeral report for him, unfortunately. It would still be worth trying other Medway Towns papers, and even the Chatham News itself for an ordinary death notice.
You can find out what papers were in print then, and where they are held, on the NEWSPLAN site for London and the South East
www.newsplan.co.uk/laser_newsplan/modules.php (http://www.newsplan.co.uk/laser_newsplan/modules.php)
I went to school not far from Castle Street, and even closer to the hospital (it's now the Medway Maritime Hospital). My brother still lives nearby, and his wife is a nurse there. Small world.
Sorry I couldn't be more help, but good luck with your search anyway.
