could anyone please do a look-up for me ,for a marriage at st phillips sheffield on 2 dec 1874 between james clarence blakey and mercer winifred birks as I am trying to find out the fathers of both parties and addressess/ages to confirm if this is my family,I have sent of for a photocopy to sheffield who returned my £1.00 postal order,they want £5.00 for a photocopy of the film and I  find this a bit to dear so any help would be greatly appreciated.thank you jackie

Just to add I can't see Mercer on the earlier census at all.  She must be badly mistranscribed.

Hi Wendy thank you,I could'nt find mercer on earlier census either,but it was the marriage details of 1874 2 dec st phillips sheffield  that I needed to find out the fathers of both of them,hoping really that someone maybe was going to sheffield  record office and would maybe look it up for me,but thank you for taking the trouble to look up the census that is the family.best wishes jackie

I have the marriage certificate of James and Mercer as they are my GGG parents. If you have still not had any luck I can email you a copy. May I ask who you are related to.
