Wonder if anyone would be kind enough to look for the arrival in Canada of William Hotson and Anges/Agnes Ashcroft, William was born in Scotland about 1820 I believe they married in Port Hope about 1855 any information would be greatfully received. :)

Yes, I have been trying to help her- not getting anywhere in Scotland so I thought I'd try the other angle nothing to do with my tree but it's bugging me till we find him ???

Bless you both, for trying to help me on this. Irret if you think it's bugging you, you ought to see me. I'm just about bald ( pulling my hair out over this)
Did find out from a cousin yesterday, that William was a tailor in Scotland . Also his father was a tailor.
When he went to Canada, he decided to change occupations, he became a farmer.

graylady, You had mentioned that you wanted to find someone in 1871 census of Ontario... (in home of father-in law John Ashcroft ) information is heads of household only...but if you want to see more...Did you know that you can order information? J.J.

Hello Graylady
They appearing to be living in Egremont, Grey County in 1871. This birth was registered in 1871
023135-71 (Grey Co)
HOTSON, Jane, f. b. 17 Dec 1870,
father - William Hotson, farmer;
mother – Agnes ASHCROFT;
informant - William Hotson, father, Egremont
William must not be the head of household, as I don't see a Hotson showing up in Grey in 1871.
