Title: Hornchurch/Romford - 1841,51 or 61
Post by: Dino25 on Saturday 30 October 04 22:41 BST (UK)
Hello

I am trying to findout more about my Gt-Gt-Grandmother Alice Clare born approx 1840 in Romford (although she sometimes puts Hornchurch). I believe her mother's name is Ellen and she was from Norfolk.

Any assistance would be gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation

Dino

Hi Dino,

Where do you think she was in the census years? You could check the indexes for the districts to search for her.

Hi Geoff,
I hope you haven't taken my Romford 1841 as complete. I think it is only the first census. She may be lurking in one of the untranscribed census of Romford, or elsewhere.

ps I would personally purchase a copy of the Archivecd 1841 census
 http://www.rod-neep.co.uk/acatalog/ess-census.html
which i am sure is a lot better than the copy I have from one of the other companies.

Thanks Kevan, Geoff & Kate for the replies.

I must admit I don't know how long she stayed in Romford.
Her mother Ellen Clare died aged 90 in Kensington 1879.

I'm going to try to find out when and where George and Alice married.

In the meantime thanks for your input.

Dino

PS:- I like the Essex1841 site, Kevan - lot's of good links.
