Title: Beard - 1891 census - Camberwell

Could some kind person please lookup an address & family of William Henry Beard, known to be resident in Camberwell with his (unknown) spouse & baby daughter Clara.

Hmmm.  Surprisingly tricky.

Looked for a Clara Beard (theoretically easier to find).

Found one, age 10, living in Blockhouse Worcs with parents William H & Annie Beard.  All born Worcs.  Father a shoemaker.

Found another, age 5, living in Camberwell but with parents Mark and Ellen.

There's a William Beard (age 35, b. Hertford) living in Camberwell with wife Emma, but no daughter called Clara.

Best I can do - any other info?  William's age & birthplace?

Like Dave I cant find a cert in 1891 but this could be why

Beard

William 35 head b Deptford      Railway Lab
Harriet 26 wife b Portsmouth
Clara 10 b Camberwell
William 8 son       "
Emily 5 dau          "
Arthur 1 son b Brentford

It looks like Clara was born after the 1891 Cencus was taken.

Hi Dave & Joe, many thanks to both of you. Yes, it looks very likely that the 1901 info is my family.
I couldn't supply other details as I only knew of William Henry from his name on my grandparents
marriage certificate, and the fact that he was alive at that time (1909) & that his occupation was given as 'engineer'.

I have been reluctant to start to purchase certificates, as there are several William Henry Beards showing on the 1881 census, who are in the likely age range of someone who could have fathered Clara.

With the details you have supplied I can now narrow down my search for other ancestors.

There is a birth registered for a Clara BEARD in the September quarter of 1890 in the Camberwell registration district (ref. 1d 907) so if this is her then she should be around in 1891 somewhere :-\

However, are we sure that your Clara was born in Camberwell ???
