Hi
I would appreciate help. I am looking for Guerin ancestors.
Patrick Guerin born c 1814 (married Winifred Mulvihill)
Lawrence Guerin born c 1820 (married Margaret Larkin)
Bridget Guerin born c 1823 (married Joseph O'Brien)
John Guerin born c 1826 (married Bridget Agnes Conlin)
Catherine Guerin born c 1830 (married James McNamara)
all migrated to South Australia on the ship "Hooghly" in 1846 departing Plymouth England. They give place of birth as Co Clare. Catherine's parents are recorded as John Guerin and Catherine Ryan.
A relative Michael Guerin and wife Mary Gandy (Ganley) migrated to South Australia in 1840 on the ship "Birman" with daughter Bridget Anastasia. He gives place of origin as Kihaska, Corofin Co Clare. Many thanks for your help.

Hi Kath
Thank you for your reply. Yes I have googled but I had not seen Pat Guerin's article. I found it very interesting. I have communicated with Pat. Do you know who I would contact with respect to finding baptism records for the Corofin area?I think my best option is to find the baptisms of my Hooghly 5! They were all married in the Roman Catholic Church so I asume that they were Roman Catholic.
Once again your help is much appreciated.

Hi Guerin,
Welcome to RootsChat :) :)
try looking in the Surname Interests Table (link at bottom of the page [Your Surname Interests] (http://surname.rootschat.com/) )
There are two other RootsChatters looking for GUERIN (and one of them is looking in Co. Clare !!!)
You can use the name links to send them a PM.
(and while you are there, add your names, too :) :) )
Good luck,
Bob

Hi Bob
Many thanks for your help. I can't seem to find the post looking for Guerins in Co Clare. Can you direct me? (Easy to see that I am new to this site!).
Have a great day

Hi Guerin,
the Surname Interests Table (SIT) will tell you the names of any RootsChatters who have entered that they are searching for these names. The name is always a link to their profile, and from there, you can either send them a PM asking/giving more details, or just look at their last posts to see if "your" names come up.
But not everybody uses the SIT (I notice you have :) ) so another posiibility is to click on the "Search RootsChat" button at the top of the page and enter a name there. With common names, this won't be a big help, but try GUERLIN, there are a couple of searchers there who aren't in the SIT.
Enjoy RootsChat, and if you have any problems, just ask - there's always somebody around, willing to help.

Hi Guerin,
There are a lot of Guerin's who travelled abroad, by boat and plane, and they are on Ancestry.com, (mostly pay per view)
