Title: 1841/1851 - RICH - completed thank you
Post by: SallyCat on Thursday 27 July 06 14:58 BST (UK)
Looking for:

Mathew Rich b abt 1793 Mevagissey
Mary Rich b abt 1797 Mevagissey

They married in 1818, but from what I can find, they had children over almost a 20 year period.

Possibly not living with them at the time though

Mathew b abt 1821
Elizabeth Ann b abt 1838

From IGI records, there seems to be at least THREE James Brewer Rich's whose parents are Mary and Mathew, born abt 1822, 1828 and then 1834.  I have found the one born in 1834, but perhaps the others died as they seem to be nowhere.

I know there is a Mathew Rich b 1821 in the 1851 Census so possibly he had left home.

I found Mary Rich living as a widow in 1881 with her daughter.

Hope this is not too confusing... I know its doing my head in at the moment!

Looks good to me Geoff, thank you!

The family does seem to be in the 'mariner' line of work.

Now I can go check it all out.

Much appreciated!
 :)

Now the addition of grandchildren... one would expect one of the earlier James's had survived.. eeek...  off to investigate!

PS: Think I found the grandchildrens father.   William Simons Rich (born 1820 Mevagissey) who married Jemima Kendall.

Mathews mothers name was Ruth Symons, so I guess they added a few of the maiden names :)

Hi Sally,

I believe Mary Rich (nee Brewer) was the youngest daughter of William Brewer of Mevagissey and neice of my ancestor Jenifer Dudley (nee Brewer).

I would love to exchange Brewer research with you.

Regards,
Ryan Dudley
