There's quite a bit in The Times about a Henry Albert who was sentenced to 7 years transportation Mar 07, 1849. He worked for Mr Henry Wood, a carpet warehouseman, and along with a Henry Howard had been removing carpets from the warehouse and selling them on. Henry Albert had been employed as a porter by Mr Henry Wood for about a year and a quarter.
The case started at Mansion House, and then was moved to Central Criminal Courts (Newgate). I think the original records will probably be found at either London Metropolitan Archives or Guildhall Library, not sure. Try checking the LMA site first, they are quite helpful.

Thanks a lot for the info on Henry Albert. I did not know what his actual crime was the only reason given was Temptation in an Evil Hour. He was transported for 14 years, two lots of 7. Will try to access the LMA site, but as you can understand getting info from Uk while in Aust can sometimes be difficult.
Thank you very much, I now know a bit more. for your info he became a respectable businessman in Fremantle. WA.
