Looking for any information on the Haynes Family listed as living at The Kennels, Taplow in 1861. Members of the household were:-
Alec Haynes Aged 10, born in Herefordshire
Edith M Haynes Aged 17, born in Buckinghamshire
Gladys Haynes Aged 13, Born in Northamptonshire
Ladas Haynes Aged 6, born in Herefordshire (Died early childhood)
Lillian Haynes Aged 11, born in Northamptonshire
Neville I Haynes Aged 8, born in Herefordshire
William Haynes Aged 46, born in Buckinghamshire
Jessie A Haynes (maiden name not know) Aged 44, born in Herefordshire.
What I do know with this family is that William was a Head Huntsman and at some point late in the 1800's moved to Frome Somerset where Lillian met her husband Alfred Hallett and had my Great Aunt Muriel Gladys, and my grandmother Ruby Jesse May.
If anyone could find information on the Haynes pre-dating William b1855 (in Hardwick) I would be very grateful.
Many thanks.

Welcome!
I should like to help but can't find your family with those ages on 1861 census? You mention William born 1855 but your William on census is 46 in 1861 that would make his birth year 1815 can you enlighten me please?

Still struggling here I have found a birth of Ruby Lillian Hallett Sep quarter 1906 Bridgwater 5c 296
I have also found a birth for Edith Haynes Sep quarter 1844 which would fit with census birth age that you gave Newport Pagnell 6 369 if this is our girl and you order it it should give you Jessie A maiden name. I f you got your census year muddled up I have found a better one that fits with a birth of Neville that I have found.
Edith May Haynes Sep quarter 1883 Wycombe ( Buckinghamshire ) 3a 581
Neville Jack Haynes Sep quarter 1892 Ledbury ( Herefordshire ) 6a 431 there is a 9 year age gap between these two births which fits with ages you have given.
Ladas Alwyne C Haynes birth 1894 June quarter Ledbury 6a page 40_ this should give you Jessie's maiden name.
Alec Arthur G 1891 march quarter Ledbury 6a 471

Quick response already - many thanks.
Ruby was born in Keyford Terrace Frome so that wont be My Nan. Ill double check with the census records when I have more time. With regards to the connection in Ledbury the details I have were obtained from an online census database so could well be slightly incorrect, but the name Ladas is definately in my tree so will look more closely at the information I have.

Apologies my mistake, William Haynes info was gained from the 1901 census, his father is Thomas Haynes b1821 at Marsh Gibbon.
The Edith, Neville, Ladas and Alec you have found are in my tree. There were 2 other children born in the 9 year gap between Edith & Neville. The family must have been living in Northamptonshire at the time as this is where they are registered.
Muriel Gladys is my great aunt and I do not know the Lilian in your tree she may well be a cousin of some description.

Glad I found something that was of help! Lillian isn't in my tree I have just been helping you. :)

Hi
Just a little bit more that could be yours.
From the IGI,
Thomas HAINES christened 29th Aug 1819 Marsh Gibbon
Parents John Haines & Sarah.
Other siblings all christened Marsh Gibbon,
Elizabeth 15th May 1814
Rebecca 21st Jan 1816
James 8th July 1821
Hannah 2nd March 1823
Sally 28th Nov 1824.
The names seem to run through the two families.
Regards
Maddie

Many thanks for the info guys. Would you know why the name changed from Haines to Haynes?
-
Hi
The name probably didn't change, it's just a spelling variation. Sometimes caused by transcription error or more often the way it was written by whomever recorded the event, ie, parish clerk or enumerator. Most folks couldn't read or write so variations in spelling are quite common.
I have so many in my name I don't know who I am any more. :)
