Hello all,
I am new at this. I would like to find information on my Great Grandfather's Family. Joseph Giles b. 1846 Buckland, Berkshire, Brothers Thomas b. about 1844 and Henry b. 1836. Joseph was married to Elizabeth Baker from Farington,Berkshire and moved to Wembworthy Devon. I am not sure if there were any other children in the family. Thomas and Henry both immigrated to Canada before 1881. As did my Grandfather Frank (Joseph's son) my Grand father. That is what I know so far so if you can help that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You HBG

The chap at RG10/1260 is as likely - even though he seems too old. But the 17 year old is too young.

Thanks to you all,
I have got all of the info back to 1881 census. What I would like to get now is any info on Joseph in Berkshire. Something with his Brothers Thomas and Henry. I have info on both of them in Canada in 1871 and I know that they both homesteaded with my Grandfather here in Alberta. We do not know Joseph's father or mother's name or anything about the rest of the family. I am grateful; for any more info as I am now hooked on finding more info from my past.

Made a big leap today. 1851 UK Census
Buckland, Berkshire
Giles Giles 56 Baker
Mary, Giles 49 wife
Jane Giles 22 daughter
Edward Giles 16 son
Thomas Giles 14 son
Joseph Giles 11 son
The only one that I have no record of is Jane so if anyone has some info on her that would be great or and thing on earlier Giles family.
All the Best, HBG

Although HBG hasn't been on since 2006, a new member posted to day to say he has Joseph Giles in his tree, and the family back to 1676.
Putting this here in case you still have notifications turned on HBG :D

I think I have the key to your locked door... Joseph Giles is on our tree and we have stacks of info on him and his/our family including some photos of his children, Edward, Francis and Henry...This tree goes back to 1650 on the Giles line...
Please respond ASAP...
Best regards,
Claire.

I'm not sure if my GILES line fits in here, but I am hopeful.
I’m looking for some help with a brick wall that I’m having trouble with.
The known details I have at this stage are as follow;
Charles and Lydia married on 11th August 1851 in the Parish of Stepney in the County of Middlesex. Both are stated to be of “full” age, unmarried, residing in Stepney. Charles was a Stonemason and his father, Henry, a labourer. Lydia’s father, William, was a butcher.
They travelled to Australia aboard the “Ellenborough” with their two sons, Charles (2), and William (1)(died on voyage), arriving 31st October 1854.
Charles died 4th January 1886 aged 57 in Newcastle, NSW. His death certificate states that he was married at age 23, his parents are unknown, and that he had been in the colony 31 years.
Children of the marriage were Charles b 31/5/1852, William b 1852, Zipporah b 12/2/1858, Annie b 2/1/1860, William b 20/8/1861, Alfred b 1863, Stephen b 1866, Hannah b 1869, Emily b 1870, Amelia b 1874, Charlotte b 1876. I also have found in the 1851 and 1861 censuses, what I believe to be, an illegitimate child belonging to Lydia named Mark Capien Pine.
I’ve been looking in the 1841 & 1851 censuses for a Charles of about the right age with a father Henry without success. The closest I have so far is a family in Middlesex with a Charles of the right age with a father James and mother Rebecca.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Mark
