Hi all ;D
If my 2x great grandfather is only 1x grandfather to a newly contacted relatives, what does that make us - second cousins ? ??? :-\
Is there any website that will help us calculate what we should all be calling each other ?
Any help appreciated

So your GG Grandad and their GRandad are the same person?
Your Grandad and your new rellie are 1st cousins so you and new rellie are 1st cousins 2 removed

Always easier to just use cousins rather than full title as it can get too confusing lol
Wait till you start getting 5th cousins 4 x removed - that's always fun trying to explain where they link in lol

Here's a diagram , I make it 2nd cousins once removed but it depends if you meant 1 x great grandfather or 1x grandfather. If you meant grandfather rather that 1x ggrandfather then Carol is correct.
( Aggg ---------------- BGG) - same person
I I
Agg Bg - siblings
I I
Ag Bf - 1st cousins
I I
AF B - 2nd cousins
I
A - 2nd cousins, once removed
A is you and B is your 'cousin' :)
