1871
William W Nicholls 34 Devon Carpenter & Joiner
Mary A Nicholls 32 Hertford
Living at 163A Rindlerham Road, Hackney.
1861
There are a few candidates but I have found a William Nicholls aged 22 and a Carpenter living with a Turpin family and listed as "son in Law". They were living at Deverill & Weston, Devon but no sign of Mary A Turpin or Nicholls.

Thank you Karen, that is most helpful.
Please would you be kind enough to look on the 1871 census for William's father and sisters?
1861 Census they were at Red Lion Public House White Chapel North, Middlesex.
William Nicholls Head Wid Carpenter Devon
Ann Matilda Nicholls Dau unmarr 20 Dressmaker Devon Potren
Elizabeth Nicholls Dau unmarr 18 Middlesex Limehouse.
Cheers,

I can't spot William Sr I'm afraid.
There is a marriage of Ann Matilda Nicholls December Quarter 1862 (1c 923) St Geo East, to either James Charles Matthew or Frederick Howard. I have spotted James Charles with a wife and family in the 1871 so she possibly married Frederick Howard.
I can't spot Frederick and Ann on the 1871.
Elizabeth may have married before 1871 too and there are too many to know which one is her.
Hope that helps.

Thank you Karen.
There seems to be a William who died in 1863 and another in 1868 who are possibilities.
Is there any way of telling who was at the Red Lion Inn in 1871?
Cheers,
Narelle.
