Title: Location of Farm
Post by: peh.s041 on Wednesday 19 July 06 15:01 BST (UK)
Hi All
Have found a relative of mine in a trade directory for Sussex 1905. He is a farmer at Lower Cowdens Mayfield    S.O.
Does any one know if Lower Cowdens still exists, I suspect its a farm, also what does the S.O. mean .
Thank you in advance.
Peter

Have a try at the Sussex Record Office for some info>>

http://www.eastsussex.gov.uk

This will give you their address for contact.

Choose A - Z Services, (LH menu)
enter Archives in search slot
take your pick of the links.

What about posting your relatives name, maybe we can find him in the 1901 census. ?

good luck

Meliora

Yes! it is still marked on a modern map.  It is on the main A267 road from Butchers Cross going East to Mayfield.

ps I like the old maps better though much nicer to look at
