Can anybody please help me with the marriage record of an EDWARD BROOKS born about 1753, possibly in Bampton. His wife's name would be ANN. The first child I have is JOHN born about 1773 in Bampton. Thanks

There were three Edward BROOKS/Ann marriages on the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837) - in 1700 and 1827, and this one:
17 JUN 1776 - Edward BROOKS (w) to Ann CLEMENTS at North Leigh

Hi Pennie,
Thank you so much for the marriage information, I think the 1776 record is the one I want. I see Edward was a widower so the older child could be from his previous marriage. Something for me to look into. If you get time, would it be possible for you to send me the other two marriages, they may come in handy later.
Thanks again.
Regards, Joan

Gosh this is a long time after your conversation. I am the direct descendant of Edward Brooks and Ann. Their daughter Ann (Christened Nancy) married in 1806 to Thomas Batcheler. Their daughter married Robert Garwood of Arundel. There are many descendants on My Heritage looking at this line. However I am descended from their only surviving son George born 1822 Havant. This is how I got the family bible!! So anyone interested in descendants of Ann Brooks (Batcheler) I can take you back two more generations.
Hope to hear from you! My tree is the Evans family tree

Hi Marco the Malta Bus,
Thanks so much for the information on the Brooks family.
I'm having a little trouble getting my head around it at the moment as I don't have too much other information. I have Edward Brooks married to Ann (do you know her maiden name), then I have John, William, Ann and Sarah as children, am I correct?
Edward and Ann would be my Great Grandparents X 5. Their son William would be my line from there.
I still have so many gaps to fill in so would be very grateful for any information from you, then I will be able to see how we are related.
Look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Regards, Joan

Hi Joan
The Bodlean library found Edward married to Ann and christening Nancy June 4th 1780. I have Ann Brooks born May 31st North Leigh in my bible. I used your enquiry and went with Ann Clements and that made matches on My Heritage trees. So I went with that. However on My Heritage and Family Link I cannot find any of these records. Could you give me details of the children and then I can confirm. My Ann was Nancy because this is how she is recorded at death which is why no one can find her!!! I am in contact with loads more descendants from Ann born May 31st 1780 North Leigh. However I have not found Edward or John or his previous wife. I have no idea why she met my relative in Hants but there is bound to be a link somewhere. Best Margaret

Hi Joan,
I don't know whether you still visit this site. I have since found that Nancy Brooks (her father in is North Leigh church yard), had a daughter Anne Batcheler (lived in Havant) who married Robert Lord and their son Richard Robert Lord then married a lady Clarissa Stallard whose family ran a glove manufacturers in Havant.
