I am trying to locate my gg grandparents before they married c. 1875
In 1881 I have
William H Budge 27 born Launceston Cornwall
Margery Budge 25 (maiden name Turner) born Torpoint
I have found a probable marriage Plymouth 1875 on freebmd and I have 2 brothers for Margery -
TG Turner born c 1863 Torpoint
Joseph E Turner born c 1851 Torpoint
(living with their sister in 1881/1901 censuses)
I also have family information that suggests that William Budge had a sister Florence.
I'm ordering the probable marriage certificate but in the meantime I'm itching to find out more if anyone has access to 1861/71.
Thank you very much

Wow thanks Kris, to find all that information when I got in this evening was absolutely thrilling. Thank you so much for all your time.
I kind of hope that the Turners do come fromIreland as all my ancestors have been Welsh and English so far.
I haven't had time to absorb all the info yet but wanted to write and thank you straight away.
Cheers
Louise

You r very welcome Louise...I would have done it bit by bit over a few days but I was bored last night and got on a roll with checking another census disc each time I found a discovery. LOL I do know that the Turners r not in Antony anywhere in 1851...I have been through all the sections of Antony last night (Torpoint comes under Antony) First time looking for the Turners and then again when I discovered the Budges were also from there so did double check for the Turners and they r not there...these r not indexed so it is a matter of just going through parish by parish and I note If Sarah was born in Torpoint u would think they should be there but I c by the 71 census (Presume that is her) that she is listed as born in Ireland. It is a little confusing as in one census we have Sarah born Torpoint and Joseph Ireland and in another they r reversed. I know that mine r as enumerated as I have taken the transcripts from my discs...what I dont know about is the transcript from My Trees for 71.........was just a shame that I couldnt find the father 4 u in a census... Hopefully your marriage cert will shed some light on it as it appears Eliza Budge was from Devon
All the best

Hi louisem,
I see you are descended from William H Budge and Margery Turner. William Henry Budge was the son of Eliza Ellen Crowley and William Budge, baptised 8 January 1854. His mother, Eliza Ellen Crowley was born on 21 July 1833 and baptised 31 Aug 1833, daughter of Bryan Crowley and Mary Sullivan. Eliza Crowley married William Budge in the chapel of East Stonehouse on 3 May 1852. She was described as being aged 21, living at 18 George Street, daughter of “Brian Crowley, mariner”.
I have written a full biography of Bryan Crowley, having been lucky enough to discover his service record, which is amongst the papers lodged for his son Edward William Crowley's application to Greenwich Hospital School. I am descended from Edward (Ned), Eliza's brother. Ned attended Eliza;s wedding and pretty much immediately boarded the merchant vessel Panama, bound for Melbourne. I believe the wedding was held when it was to coincide with Ned's sailing. Ned arrived in Melbourne at the height of the Gold Rush, and like the whole ship, deserted, never returning to England.
Bryan was son of William Crowley, a baker, who was living in Paul Street, Cork City c. 1780. Bryan was pressed ganged into the RN on 24 March 1807, served in the Napoleonic Wars, the War of 1812, in the Caribbean against piracy, in the Mediterranean, off the coast of Africa fighting the slave trade, and lots more.
I can send you all this material, if you like, including the census transcript results, but also the biography of Bryan Crowley and my material about the Budges.
