Title: Searching for Alice LOVE emigrated early 1900s to Manitoba

Hello,
I have family notes about a relative from England who married and emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba sometime after 1910.

Her name was Alice Gertrude (nee Gambrill) and her husband's surname was LOVE (don't know his first name). Alice was born about 1889 in Ramsgate, Kent, England.

Alice kept in touch with her brother (my grandfather) in England, and I can remember as a small boy in the 1950's my grandfather opening the annual gift from Winnipeg.

I'm wondering if there is any information about Alice LOVE (possibly death), or if she had children.

I now live in Canada, but all my family searching to date has been for ancestors in England.

Alice Gertrude Gambell married Frank Douglas Love in Winnipeg, Man on Nov 21, 1912

I would think that if someone looked in the city directories for you for around that time you could find more about the family.

I hadn't counted on locating Alice's marriage in Canada, so your find is a bonus.

Now the hunt is on for the LOVE family after their marriage. Can anyone tell me if there is a Canadian equivalent to the UK website FreeBMD .... or what are the options for searching Canadian BMD indexes beyond 1910 ?

I'm not aware of any FreeBMD-type of index for Canada.  If you look at the Manitoba Vital Statistics search page, you'll see that they don't have any recent info online because of confidentiality issues.

If you write to the Manitoba Public Library, they might be able to find a newspaper notice about the marriage.  As Thelma wrote, the library might also be able to find them in city directories.  If the library has a death index or cemetery listings, they might find them there for you, as well, which in turn would give you the date of death so they could look for an obit.
