Title: service records
Post by: cass on Friday 07 July 06 09:47 BST (UK)
Hi, how would I find out (online if possible) if my ancestors ww1 service records survived. I have been able to access the National Archives site online in the past for other ancestors but when I went into it again I cannot find info on services records. Cass

Hi Cass

I assume that you are talking about army personnel in WW1 ???

Unfortunately, the service records aren't online and they don't all survive see http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=18

You might have more luck if he received an army pension though it willmean a visit to Kew :-\

Hi Cass

Robert and George Whitfield served in gallipoli in WWII.  The medal cards are available online.  I have a copy of Robert Whitfield's medal card
