He INSISTS she was an illeg. of the C's who were colliery owners . HELP please . In BDM there is one born in Wortley but also a sibling reg so iI dont think its her.

Does anyone have access to the Badsworth marriages in 1848?  I am looking for details of the marriage of William Hall and Elizabeth Cawthorne in December 1848.  Their banns were read in Badsworth.

Fingers crossed!

Hi
Had a look at them on A* and the banns are there but not the marriage. There are only 5 marriages in 1848 and 3 in 1849.
The bride's surname on the Banns is definitely Hawthorn of Campsall while William is of this parish.
Sorry

Thanks for looking on Ancestry.  I had found the banns there and was hoping someone might have access to the marriages.  I think that the vicar got Elizabeth's surname wrong in the banns register.  The cross check on the GRO gives it as Cawthorne, which is correct.

As the banns state that Elizabeth was from Campsall and the GRO has the marriage in the Doncaster Registration District, they would most probably  have married in Campsall and not Badsworth.  The banns would have been read in both churches.  Badsworth was in the Pontefract Registration District, and Campsall the Doncaster Registration District.  Campsall PR are held at Doncaster Archives.

Thanks very much for that clarification.  I shall have to search the Campsall area.  Much appreciated!

Kind regards...........Sue
