I have this lot from 1881. (Wotton-under-edge), whom I'm trying to chase back.
I believe Sabina has re-married, (after Mr Mundy has died), and that her maiden name is either Ford or Cornock..
James Davis abt 1837 Wotton Under EdgeHead
Sabina Davis abt 1841 Wotton Under Edge Wife
George Mundy abt 1863 Wotton Under Edge Son
David Mundy abt 1868 Wotton Under Edge Son

Thanks,
Pauline

Thunderstorm here, but checking occupation in unplugged mode!!
;D ;D
Modified - there are too many dittoes on the occupation line.
I think it should read "parish relief cloth picker"
There was a lot of cloth-related work in Wotton at that time - my lot were all at it too!
MUNDAY is still a current name in those parts - the playing field at Thornbury is the Munday Field (typos!!).
BTW - did you notice that there are two Selina FORDs of the same age? I wonder if she was enumerated twice?
A ;)
-
1851 - possible duplicate enumeration (note there is only one Sabina FORD in 1841)

That little lot should give you plenty to puzzle over, Pauline!
kind regards, Arranroots ;)

I think the Sabina Ford you have found in 1851 is the correct one Arranroots. I notice a sister Harriet the same age as the one on the 1861 census for Sabina :) :)
Seems unusual for there to be 2 Sabina Fords of the same age in the same small village, maybe she was visiting and her mother put her down as well :) :) :) :)

That is what I think must have happened, Nessie.
I tried all sorts of spellings of her name in 1841 and only found the one I posted.
Incidentally, you were asking (by PM) about the unusual names - Sabina is a variation on Sabrina, the roman name for the river Severn: good views of that from Wotton!!
-
Thanks for the information, I also found Tinwall and Adrian Acre as an address suggestive of historical interpretation
-
My lot lived in Pound Ground - never made any money out of it though, LOL!!
;D

That'll certainly keep me busy for a while. ;D
Hubby's been moaning for ages that I should look into 'his' lot.
Many Thanks,
Pauline
