Hi,
I am interested in the family name TIMMINS from the Dudley area. They tended to give the males Old Testament names eg. ISSAC, JOB, ZACHERIAH, ISAIAH, etc. Can anybody be of help?
Paul.

Jacqueline,
Where was your GGG Grandmother from and do you have any male Old Testament names in your family? I am looking, with out much success, for myGrandfather's family. He was born ca 1888 on Dec 26. His name was Issac or Isaac TIMMINS. Family tradition has it that he ran away to sea at an earily age. He always said that his family like Old Testament names for their males.

Anne(Timmins)-Richard Rich did have a son Isaac (May
1831)bapt.St.Thomas'Dudley.this is not a Rich name.I've
found two possible bapt.records for Anne both state
Isaac as the father. I'll be going to the local archives
office next week and will try and find your Isaac in the
1891 Dudley census. Will that be of any help?

Jacqueline,
I have found an Issac(Isaac) James TIMMINS in the 1891 census for Wolverhampton which is apparently not far from Dudley. He was born in the Dec quarter of 1889 but the parents names do not correstpond with the information that I have(I have his parents listed as Thomas TIMMINS and Eliza CULLISS. This is from his death cert.) . When I reqested his birth cert. I was told that I did not have the correct information and that the requested cert. was not for the person for which I was searching. If that makes any sense. If you can find anything else in the 1891 census great but do not send too much time on it. I am also trying to gain information from his World War One service records but getting information from Her Majesty's Government is like pulling teeth. I am also checking immigration records in Canada in the hope of finding more information.
Thanks for the offer of help,
Paul

Sylvia,
I have transferred my search from the Dudley to Liverpool(West Derby). I believe I have found my Grandfather's family there. I am just awaiting a birth cert. from England to confirm this. I do have a listing for TIMMINS from the 1891 census of Wolverhampton. The details are below. I have a n image of the census page but it is too large to be sent here.

Hi!
I searched the LDS following the link you presented in your previous post. I didn't actually know that the site existed beforehand :P.
I searched for John Timmins and spouse, Sarah Fereday. There was way too many inconclusive relults from the US database which I wasn't looking for, and the results from the UK database were near 100 years off of 'my' John Timmins.
Anyhow, thanks for the link - I will check out that site for other ancestors of mine. Good luck with future research!

Ryan,
On the LDS site search the IGI(International Genealogical Index) database. You cna choose this from the lefthand side of the "SEARCH FOR ANCESTORS" page. You will find the birth of both John and Sarah plus their marriage listed. One warning, you must not accept the LDS information at face value, always check against source documents(parish records). I have found errors in the LDS records this way but it gives you a good place to start.

Thanks for the advice. I've already started digging around the LSD site and the info I've found appears to be fairly reliable, but I will heed caution.
Thanks again!

Slightly OT, but my g gran Letitia Ralph's 2nd husband was a William Timmins, who my dad says was from the Brierly Hill area and was a bare fist fighter.
They married at St Johns, Wolverhampton on 29.03.1914 and they had a daughter Letitia. He was a blast furnace foreman at Bilston Steel works.
If anyone has any info on him or his family pls let me know.

My great grandfather William Thomas Timmins was born in Dudley. He married Mary Ashley from Over, Cheshire in Middlesbrough, North Riding of Yorkshire. William's father Edward Timmins was also born in Dudley I believe he may have married Ellen Walker but am not 100% sure on that yet.

Well, fell over this site by total accident and judging by ppl's comments we must be related with all the Josiah +Job's etc my G/father was born in Staffordshire and my Dad and his 2 brothers in Lancashire all i know personally but my elder sister knows more than me if i can get some info i will. If the b and w photo used on a couple of the posts is a Timmins then we may be even closer related than first thought i've seen a pic of a very similar looking lady several times in my life don't know who she was tho . Mail me or leave a msg , Cheers Brian Timmins
