Title: Birth Look up please - London

Trying to locate the parents of Esther Waller born London abt 1806 died 1882 Bethnal Green, married name Bachellier, any help appreciated as I haven't been able to go past this lady, my 3 x great grandmother

Fisrstly, try tracking her back though census, gathering surnames of visitors/lodgers.
Post all on here so that we can suggest best locations to concentrate the search.

I can see a Samuel 38y,and Ann 41 in 1871 at RG10/ 497/Fol18.

yes I have them on the 1861/1871 census but can't seem to locate them on the 1841 I think the surname has been mistranscribed. Esthers birthplace is noted as Bethnal Green not London as I quoted sorry !  :-[

Details I have is that Esther married samuel Bachellier 5 Feb 1832 Newgate , Christ Church Greyfriars children are James and samuel abt 1835, Ann abt 1840, Thomas Edward ( or Edward Thomas )abt 1842 and Elizabeth abt 1844 all born Bethnal Green.
Esther died Dec qtr 1882 Bethnal Green, Samuel died about 1846 Bethnal Green.

Please put on the census details that you have already, as requested.
It may also be worthwhile looking at the GRO indexes to fix a year, qtr and region of london for the kids births, (for tracking purposes)

was she alone in the 1861?,

In 1861 census Esther bachellier was living with her children
James,Edward & Elizabeth.
I can't quite make out the street name it looks like Tyfzen ? number 17 .
edward is a cabinet maker the others silk winders and dyer. The Bachelliers originally came from France - Huguenots.

They seem to be living in the same house as an Edward PICKERSGILL and family.

There is this family in 1841 transcribed as BERLIER but could be BACLIER/BACHIER  :-\

HO107/694/3  f.27  p.16  Bethnal Green

Sam    BA ???    35  Weaver
Ester              35
Ester              13
Samuel             8
James               6
Sarah               4
Ann                  1

All born in County.

I this is the right family then Ester jnr would have been born before the marriage of Samuel & Esther, I wonder if she was illegitimate or if Esther snr was married to a Mr WALLER and it is her second marriage to Samuel.

Do you have any of the childrens birth certs ? 
In my tree I was lucky and birth certs for two eldest children in a family showed the mother was widowed previously eg; Mary SMITH, late JONES, formerly BROWN although later childrens certs only showed the maiden name.

thanks for that yes its a possibility that I must admit I hadn't thought of! As I haven't been able to locate a birth for esther snr.
Seeing I haven't been able to locate them myself, I didnt know there was an Esther jnr.
This one definately needs further investigation.
As yet I don't have any of their birth certificates.
I will be ordering Esther death certificate so hopefully that will give me a few clues.

Hi Annie

You probably got your answer years ago, but I have Esther (b 1806), married to Samuel Bachelier and her maiden name was Garrett (she was subsequently married to someone called Waller). Esther and Samuel were married in 1832 and Esther died in 1861. I haven't got any parents listed for her as yet.
