Hello,
I am trying to trace members of the Bundy family who I believe moved to the Birmingham area from Ross, Herefordshire, After 1862 (I think).
Has anyone come across this surname, it is fairly uncommon to this area. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I seem to have hit that brick wall!!! ???

Hi Susan
Welcome to Rootschat
These are the only BUNDY names that appear on the 1871 census on line who have a connection with Ross in Herefordshire
Do any of these names look familar - if they do, I will post full reference details and the enumerators scan

Thank-you for your response.
I believe the people listed may be relatives. Henry Lewis Bundy it seems will remain a mystery before 1891, although I will keep searching.

I understand that Henry Lewis Bundy was a House Decorator, and a man who
I believe may be his father, William Bundy, 32 High Street, Birmingham was a Tailor. (from the 1881 and 1901 census)
Would these trades be listed in a directory? Does anyone have access to one, or know how I might find out more in this area?
Also, a rumour that the family left Birmingham around 1900, somewhat under a cloud is becoming more of a possiblibility. If anyone had 'done a moonlight' and left owing money would this have been recorded, or reported in local newspapers?
If anyone has any hints / tips or advice on how I might progress further I would be eternally grateful.
Thanks Susan.

Hello Beryl,
Yes I am indeed Alice and Davids daughter. I have just been on the phone this afternoon with Mum and she was telling me about your chat. Mum didn,t know I had posted a message on the internet. I have only been interested in our families history for a relatively short time and probably don't know as much as yourself but I would love to compare notes. It is quite a puzzling background isan't it? It throws up more questions than answers. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to.
Love from Susan
