Hello,
Is there anyone that has the surname Ghost in their trees, especially in Hemel Hempstead, as i seem to have a high number in my family tree.Thank you Mark
-
Hello Mark,
I have Ghost's in my tree. :)
My 4th great grandmother was Ann Ghost born about 1778 in Tring. Also have 5th and 6th great grandfathers both named John Ghost. And the 7th is Hugh Ghost.
Are any of these names in your tree? If so it would be great to hear from you. ;D
Heard of having skeletons in ones tree, but never heard of ghosts. ;D
Regards,

Hi Markn
I’ve seen your post about having Freeman’s in your tree and wonder if you might tell me whom they were and where they came from?
I don’t have any Thomas Freeman’s in my tree but I have quite a few Freeman ancestors who were in Meesden in Hertfordshire in the late 1800’s. Unfortunately lots of records for that area were lost many years ago and so am facing a brick wall in that particular branch. Although they state in the censuses from 1851 onwards that they were born in Meesden I’ve never been able to locate them in the 1841 census.
Thanks
Lyndsey

Hi The freemans that i have come mainly from:
Little Gaddestone
HARPENDEN
HEMEL HEMPSTEAD
Some of them include
Francis Freeman 1749 Great Gaddesden married to Mary Mills
William Freeman 1804 Harpenden
Let me know if you want any further info. Thanks Mark
-
Hi Mark
Alas, I have nothing to link my Meesden Freeman’s to Harpenden or Hemel Hempstead. I have no Francis Freeman in my tree and I have a big gap in between the 1760’s and the 1820’s.
Thanks for replying so quickly. One day I might strike lucky…but not today!
Regards
Lyndsey

Hi andrea
Thomas freeman is william freeman father who was transported to australia for committing a felony so there is also his goal register on the net at the bedfordshire and luton archives serivce which give details of his age etc and there is also a story of his time in australia on the net under the heading of Alexander Mclennan and Mary matheson their story which are both his brother in law and sister in law he married a woman called catherine mclennan who was from scotland if you have any trouble finding the info let me know. :)freeman5522

hi I got alot of my information from records held on the website familysearch.org and ancestry.com so also have seen some info on the net about a william merridon being sent to tasmania in 1830's and that he was a brother in law of the william freeman that i have in my tree william freeman born 18/02/1804 at great gaddesen and nettleden herford, england father thomas freeman and ann I got that info from the familysearch.org site and also the marriage of ann ghost to thomas freeman in 1802 so hopefully I have the right family. :)
-
Hi, i hope that is the right family as it is the same as mine. I only have 5 children, for Thomas and Ann. The thing that i have seem to find most difficult is the dates of death for the family etc. Can any one help?, I have info on theGhost Family going back to 1575, if you want it. Thanks Mark
-
hey lindseyb, i came across this site whilst searching for my family from meesden, they were the freemans and lived there for over 100 years, i see you have a connection to them too how are you related??
keely x x x

Hi Keely
Benjamin Freeman, b.1869 (youngest son of James Freeman b.1863 and Jane Robinson b.1861) was my Gt. Grandfather. I have never been able to find evidence of his marriage to Ann Brett (b.1866 in Brent Pelham) but they had four children, the youngest being Grace (b. 1896 in Edmonton) who was my Grandmother.
As you probably know, a lot of the Meesden records were lost making the Freeman's notoriously difficult to research!
If you pm me I will be happy to swop information.
Best wishes
LyndseyB

Hello fellow Ghost hunters,
Can anyone identify with Henry Ghost born Spitalfields who married Jemima Powell,
their son Thomas John born Limehouse, married Margaret Tippett,
their son Charles Richard born Poplar, married Adelaide Maria Foile,
who by the time they had their last son Robert (my husband's Grandad), the family were going by the name of GORST!
? We have a little mystery there!
I'd love to hear from you,
Thanks

Hey Sandie!
I have to be honest, having hit a brick wall in 2007 (and changing computers and losing all my computerised information) I moved on to other branches of the family and put 2 lever-arch folders worth of Ghosts into the cupboard. It was only after stumbling onto this site last night and doing the search of all my names (as you do) that I've reserected this lot.
Just prior to your post I was sitting here going through the paper files and was reading my page on William and Sophia (as i have her), but blow me if I can find my way back to it 15 minutes on! :'(
Because I have concentrated my efforts on Henry's son Thomas who married Margaret Tippett, and their descendants, I don't have much other than what's been found on common census' etc for the other siblings.
I do have William and Sophia marrying in 1878 Bethnal Green and the birth of their daughter Emma in 1879 Limehouse.
But nothing further.
I've got Henry & Jemima's daughter Elizabeth marrying an Alfred King (is this the Elizabeth you were referring to?) and not Sophia's brother. But as I said, I haven't done a lot with these.
You can't confirm that Henry's parents were Richard and Mary, can you?
I'll leave it there for the moment, but have lots of bits and pieces if you are interested.
:)

Hi Sandie
If I have right Henry & Jemima yes his parents are Richard & Mary and he has a brother Richard b 1816 and one called Isaac b 1819 and 3 sisters Rachael,Ann and Susannah dates of birth not sure but all were christened on christmas day 1814.
To be honest I got into Ghost family by way of Penders ..my hubbies family, but have been trying to find out more for another contact one of William and Sophie/a descendants.
I have a marriage cert for Edward & Elizabeth...will search it out....know father was Henry and think witness was William.........will get back
love any other info you have...can pm you my email if you like.

Hi - well I am a Ghost!
My name is Sarah Ghost - aged 23, brother who's a Ghost aged 20. Ghost on Father's side. Grandparents were Ghost's living in Shropshire, but I believe my Great Grandparents came from Derbyshire.
If anyone has any information about Ghost's in their family tree it would be really useful as our family has tried tracing us back and never really gotten very far!!! I certainly seem unable to go back very far as my immediate grandparents and great grandparents have all passed on, and we feel as if we're the only ones left now!
-
Hi Sarah!
Do you have any Christian names for thes grand/gt-grandparents? I don't know where our Richard & Mary came from (but the Henry [& Jemima] was born in Spitalfields London).
Looking at current phone directories online there are still quite a number about, and it appears the name was fairly wide-spread in earlier times.
I too would have been a Mrs Ghost had my husband's gt-grandparents not changed their name - for whatever reason.

Hi!
My Dad is David Ghost, his father (my grandfather) was Joseph Ghost and his mother (my grandmother) was Sheila Ghost. My grandfather's father (my great grandfather) was Edward Ghost and his mother (my great grandmother) was called Barbara Ghost.
After that it gets all hazy, and all of the older generations of my family on the Ghost side have died so there's no one to ask! :S

Thanks for the info... I don't recognise these names [yet] in my tree, but they may appear in someone elses. Meantime, best of luck with your searching.
