Title: Farrall family - Chester area
Post by: C F on Saturday 24 June 06 04:27 BST (UK)
Looking for any info at all on the following:
William Farrall Ropemaker born approx 1781 and his wife Jane ------ born approx 17866 living at Boughton (1841 census)
William & Jane had 5 children
Eliza (born c. 1811)
John (born c. 1816)
William (born c. 1816)
Robert (born c. 1826)
George (born c. 1821)
This last George was a stonemason and in 1845 married Anne Kay, dressmaker at Eccleston. They were living in Boughton in 1871 (census)
George & Anne's son was George William Farrall born 4/10/1859. He worked for the Railway as a ticket collector and maybe later as a stationmaster. He also seems to have been a publican. In 1880 he married Caroline Ithell who had been born 1861 in Capenhurst. They lived at St. Oswald's, Chester (1881 census) Hoole (1891) and Boughton (1901). I believe they later lived in Upton by Chester.
They had 8 children:
George (1886-)
Albert (1887-)
James (1891-)
Maude (1881-)
May (1883-)
Lily (1884-)
Florence (1894-)
Beatrice (1896-)

Thanks Libby
I did find these people myself in the census and they are possible contenders for relatives, maybe Robert is one and the same as the Robert born 1826.

Regards

Hi Sarah

Many many thanks! I had briefly looked at the Cheshire County Council site but had not seen any searchable database there!(bad eyesight or memory loss!).  I am presuming that before 1900 Overleigh Old Cemetery was the main burial site for the city and suburbs such as Upton.
As you say, other family members buried there. I am adding them to my chart.
Thanks again!

Hi guys, I also have some Farrall's I am researching - Sarah Farrall chr 1771 Barthomley, Cheshire [may have died before 1841 as she's not listed with the rest of the family on the census record], married Robert Skerratt 1795.  Sarah's parents were Joshua Farrall b 1749 Rushton James, Stafford died 1838 Odd Rode, Cheshire married 1770 to Ann Hancock chr 1747 Alsager.  Joshua's parents were Thomas Farrall and Joyce Halthorne.

Anything familiar?

Cheers
Julie
