I am trying to find out info about a John Edmond Midgey born approx 1912, presumably Devon area. He was a butcher,

Do you know whether he married?  His marriage cert would provide his father's name and occupation, which would help to narrow down the search.

you say "presumably Devon" - why?

Sorry  Johns last name is Midgely, I presume he was born in Devon as he was a butcher there.
