Without an indication of date nor location, then there is little to be done.
What era have you for the birth of these kids, names etc?
Pauline
-
HI
The eldest child was born in 1915

I was going to say that the above entry is very probably correct - until I saw your other thread where you call her Mary Alice .... hmmmmm
Why dont you spell out everything you know about these people - especially name and DoB of the 1915 child. A birth cert will then reveal the maiden name of the lady concerned ...
-
- I F - the marriage I indicated is correct, this couple went on to have these children by 1920 ..
Slack Elsie [Shepherd] Barnsley Vol9c P535 Q2 1915
Slack Dorothy [Shepherd] Barnsley Vol9c P465 Q1 1917
Slack Lily M [Shepherd] Barnsley Vol9c P556 Q1 1920
Do the girls names sound familiar ?

NecroMancer is correct in saying that it help enormously to state everything you know at the outset.
BUT - Monkey1 is also correct in withholding information about persons that they believe might still be alive.
It is a dilemma, but it is against Rootschat policy to publish details of living persons, due to identity theft & other abuses.
I wonder, if you know the identity of one of the children - could you obtain the birth certificate (or even look up the birth) which would give you the mother's maiden name. Approaching the problem from a slightly different angle?
You can look at the complete indexes yourself (currently free) here:

kind regards, Arranroots ;)

Good point, well made ArranRoots - I had already suggested the birth cert source of maiden name, and provided some potential clues to Index entries.
sadly, based on the other thread, I suspect that these names are unknown.....
