Title: Burial Record for William Honnor or Honner 1883
Post by: JanetteO on Friday 16 June 06 22:42 BST (UK)
Hi whilst going through the burial records for St. James Church, Enfield Highway, Enfield, Middlesex I came across this record and thought someone may have lost him as he wasn't a resident at the time of his death in Enfield.

This is exactly what the record said

William Honnor (by coroners order) abode, Raglan St, Dereham Road, Norwich buried February 22nd 1883 age 69 years.

Hope this comes in usefull for someone

Jan

  Hi JanetteO,

Having nothing better to do I thought I would see what I could find out about William Honnor.
It would appear that he was a publican whotook over Marquis of Lothian pub in Norwich on 27th June 1876.
On his demise in 1883,his wife Elizabeth took over. She being some 18 years younger than he.Apparently he was born in the City of London.

Itwould appear that he had a grandson and a grandaughter who in 1881 were staying with them. They were born in Enfield Lock!

Which may well be why William was taken back to Enfield for burial as he died in Norwich (Mar. Qtr 1883 Norwich 4b/119)
I thought you might be interested in his story.

                                                      Ron

Hi Ron,

Thanks for that information, sorry that I hadn't realised until now that you'd posted the reply.

When you read it was by coroners order you or should I say, I thought the worst. I do much prefer this ending to my finding. I'm sure his grandchildren were pleased to have him buried locally.
