I am wondering if it should say "Brenchley" although the "B....chley" looks ok but the other bit ??? :-\

Could it be Birchley....near Biddenden?

It certainly does look like it could say Birchley Iris :-\

Maybe, if some more of the image was given, it might be easier to compare the letters?  I love the old writing, I remember my Nans beautiful writing, but, some is so hard to decipher.

There is no Birchley in Kent.. That will definitely be Brenchley

Mystery solved. Although it definitely is written as Birchley, it should have been written Brenchley.

It's from a Tasmanian convict conduct record.

The same record names where the crime took place, recorded as Yorley, should have been Yalding.

Only solved the mystery a couple of weeks ago.
