I haven't found anyone of them in the 1901 census, maybe gone abroad or on holiday?
Sorry

Hi there Libby,
Thanks for the lookups interesting information.
Is it possible to find Annie Florence Hall in 1891. She's born about 1877 Cheetham Hill if it's not too much trouble.
Thanks again,
Lilygirl

Any other clues to go with Annie? Cheetham doesn't come up as a birth place and there are at least 10 possibles :)

Hi
I don't suppose she'd be under Florence or something like that??
Sorry nothing else to go on I'll have to get back to you if I can find anything.
Thanks anyway.

You never seem to have received an answer to your enquiry about Annie Florence Hall, but since this was a while back I dare say you have found it meanwhile.
Just in case: in 1891 she was at boarding school at Melchet House, Church Road, Lytham, where she is just called Florence Hall. She married Ernest Sanger in Bromley, recorded for the March quarter of 1900, and she died in 1939, March quarter, recorded under Maidenhead.
If you want more let me know.

I am a grandson of Douglas Beechcroft Hall, my deceased fathers name was Richard Seymour Hall. If you want to know more just contact me. Unfortunately my father and grandfather were estranged so any information you can give me on him would be good.

Welcome to Rootschat. To answer fairly briefly at this stage, your grandfather seems to have been Douglas Beecroft Hall (rather than Beechcroft). His ancestors are fairly easily traceable from the census back to 1841. His parents were John William Hall, b. Bury, Lancs 1848, d. ? 1898, cotton manufacturer, and Mary Beecroft, b. Hyde, Cheshire 1855, d. between the 1881 census and 1887 when her widower re-married. She was the eldest daughter of Samuel Beecroft, a doctor in Hyde.
Is this enough to be going on with?

Hi there,
I'm gonna take a stab here and guess hall1955 might you be Crispin?
If you are that makes us actually related! how bizarre!
I haven't been on much at all the last while but would be interested to make contact with you regarding your line.
Are you in contact with other family members?
Do you know any details about your fathers line at all?
Your father died in 1997 and had a brother Robert - am I correct?
Great to make contact anyway,
Kind regards,
Lilygirl.

Yes, I am Crispin and I can tell you a lo about my fathers line and about his father Douglas Beecroft Hall. Below is a brief summary of Douglas's life.
I have little information about the early life of Douglas. He is listed in the 1891 census but I have not been able to find out where he went to school or much prior to the early 1920's.
Douglas married Lucy Butler Madden in Penang 1905 and had a daughter Vivienne in 1907/8. The Butler Maddens say he disappeared off the scene fairly quickly - Lucy and Vivienne returned to England in 1918 and never saw or heard from Douglas again. Vivienne died in London in the 1980's, single with no children. My branch of the family knew none of this till last year.
His elder sister married Ernest Sanger - later to become Lord Sanger. My father knew the Sangers professionally and Ernest even visited us when we lived in Zambia. I have contact with the Sangers but have not chased them up about Douglas.
Douglas arrived in England in the early 20's from Australia and returned there in 1928. He died in Melbourne in the early 50's. I know little about him there other than census information and what is on his death certificate. What is interesting is his mothers maiden name is Beecroft and a number of his beecroft cousins moved to Australia at a similar time. I have not been able to track any of them and wonder if there was any communication between them. Additionally Douglas lived with a woman called Eleanor (approx 30 in 1930) who he travelled with when he returned to Australia in 1928. I do not know her surname and do not know what happened to her or if she had children.
I could send you photos and it would be great to keep the communication up. I don't how I can give you my contact info (there must be a way on this site) so I can send you copies of stuff etc. Just so you know I have 4 brothers and 10 nephews and nieces. Who knows maybe one day we could speak by skype or even meet - it's great to find a relative.
