hello whats a press-man my grt-grt garandad was one in bedminster 1901
would like to find what it is and where he worked

Unfortunately a pressman was a rather general occupation.  The three that I have listed are as follows:

[1] Operates the press in an Oil Mill which extracts oil from seeds
[2] Fits tyres onto wheels
[3] Operates a printing press

In 1901 first is probably the most likely.

thanks david does sound boring he later joined the army so didnt do it for long but still cant find him on 1901 cencus :(

press men were also glassmakers pressing glass rather than blowers they gathered the glass on an iron simaller to a blown iron but was not hollow they would drip the glass onto a mould the presser would cut the required amount of glass with shears the push the mould under a plug and pull the plug down forming the shape of the glass.
