I cant find any burial record for Elizabeth/Betsy irving can anyone assist. Her death is recorded at Lockerbie. I have the death certificate.Desperate to find where she is buried.
Elizabeth Irving was born Abt 1845 and died 8th February 1914 at Millhill Cottage, Dryfesdale Dumfries.
She was also known as Betsy Irving . She had 3 Children
John Irving born 11 May 1873
Jemima Irving born 19 Dec 1877
James Irving born 6 April 1879
It was her son James that recorded her death on the death certificate 8th February 1914
Betsy sometime later married a man named George Nutt who was not the father of any of the childen John,Jemima or James.
George Nutt died 21 March 1899 near Kirkton Cottage Dryfesdale
With reference to Elizabeth Nutt there is a death announcement in
the Annandale Herald of 12th February 1914 which reads as follows:
NUTT.- At Millhill Cottage, Lockerbie, on the 8th inst., Elizabeth Irving,
widow of George Nutt, aged 69 years.

Hi Wallace
Welcome to Rootschat :)
You pose a difficult question :-\
The best thing that I can suggest is to get in touch with Dumfries and Galaway Regional Council:
http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/dumgal/default.aspx
They - or their district offices - have most of the Lair Books (lists of burial plots) and would be able to point you in the right direction.
I've found them very helpful in the past.

There is an outside chance that the Dumfries & Galloway family history society:
http://www.dgfhs.org.uk/
might have some non-published MIs and other records. I got some for Holywood from them. It might be worth a try, if you've not contacted them before.
I'm a member so was able to get them easily. I'm not sure what the arrangements are for non-members. They are all very friendly and helpful.
