Please would SKS be able to look up the following family in 1861 or 1871. The family should be in Spitalfields
Jacob DAVIS
wife unknown
daughter Rebecca DAVIS b 1857 in Spitalfields.
Grateful for any help - Rebecca is my gt grandmother. Sorry re lack of detail. When Rebecca married in 1878 she gave her address as 4 Catherine Terrace.

I've now got the 1871 Street index. Catherine Terrace(s) are few and far between.
Catherine Terrace, Holland Park Road, (Kensington), Rg10/ 35 Fol 53-54
Catherine Terrace, Cahir Street, (Poplar) Rg10/ 587 fol 39
Poplar Rg10/576 fol 60-61 and 65-67
Southwark Rg10/637 40-42
Stepney Rg10/549 Fol 83-84
Battersea Rg10/ 714 fol 7-8
Obviously, I won't mind looking at all, But where do you think could be most likely?
Pauline
PS. If there should be a Catherine Terrace in Spitalfields, and it's missing for 1871 it would explain why your family hasn't shown up in the name index.

Thank you Pauline - Rebecca simply gave her address on marriage as "4 Catherine Terrace" - no district given, although the marriage was at Gt Synagogue, Dukes Place.
However I think I may have located Rebecca and her family in 1871 at 10 New Court, Whitechapel, although her father is John not Jacob as it says on her marriage certificate, and her mother's name is Sarah.
I had sent for what I thought to be her birth cert giving father's name as Jacob but was told it was not correct, so have now tried again giving no father's name so we shall see. A lot of Jews did anglicise their names and I have other Jacobs who called themselves John so I'm quite hopeful.
Thanks anyway, Hilary

Hi Hilary
Is this one resolved now or is there some information you're still seeking?
