Thanks Kris,

None of these names are familiar to me, but being I have no other names to go on, there still could be a link.

Somehow I think they may link up with the Wedmore Emery's, after looking at something I found on the net, but I'm not sure of this, and George b 1850 moved to Street, in Somerset. if it's the same George!

Thank you again for your help.

Charmaine

Hi There.
I see you have ruled out the Wedmore Emerys for your George Emery b. 1818.
Look again.
I have George Emery Christening 1819 East Brent.
Father John Emery married Nacy Edwards 30th Dec. 1815 East Brent.
John Emery christening 1794 Wedmore
His father John Emery christening 1757 Wedmore burial 1826 Wedmore
His father Richard Amery christening 1717 Stegumber

Nacy Edwards b. East Brent.
Celia Ham George Emery's Grandmother b. East Brent.
I am saying look at this side of Emery because of the East Brent Christenings & births.
I have done the same with my Norfolk Emery's of whom i am related. They did not travel that far, kept to within their villages/countryside.
What is the distance between East Brent,Wedmore & Stegumber. What type of work was there in that area. It is only when the work died in a area & transport got better then we had mass people moving.
I come from fishing/boat builders & farming Emerys all these jobs have made a move for people.
Regards
Bob

Hello Bob,

Thank you for reply and info.
It is the Wedmore information that I found on the web, and I believe this George Emery b 1818 East Brent, could be my husbands gg-grandfather, but I cannot find a definate link as yet.........

I did try to obtain the birth certificate of George Emery b 1850 Burnham, Somerset, from the Registration of BMD, Sedgmoor District, but there wasn't one, which makes me think maybe he wasn't born in Burnham.... I think he could be the youngest son of George b 1818.

I have a marriage certificate for my George Emery b 1850 he was a Plasterer and Tiler, it states place of residence, Street, Somerset, but not birth, his father was also George Emery a Cooper by trade, which is making me think it may be the same family.

Thanks again.
Charmaine

Hi All,

I too have EMERYs on my tree, infact they are my direct line til it disappered when my nan got married.

I have a Thomas Emery marrying a Mary Ann Steevins/Stevens/Stephens who came from Wellington.

The problem I have is that I cant find Thomas until after he marries Mary, when he turns up in Barnstaple in 1861 with children and Mary.

Was he in Somerset in 1851? Can anyone look and see if there is a Thomas Emery born 1829-1831 born Cornwall or Plymouth in Somerset please?

And I am also looking for Daniel Emery, living Old Cleeve in 1901 who I cant find anything about at all.

Many thanks

Debbi

Hello Debbi,

I don't have a Thomas Emery in my direct line, and I haven't found any links with Wellington, Somerset either, as far as I can see my Emery were East Brent, possibly Wedmore, and the only connection with Cornwall I've found is a Lily Emery b1879 who went to Cornwall after 1901.

Sorry I can't be of any help.

Regards.

Hi Charmaine,

thank you for your reply. :-\

Hi Kris(we meet again),

Daniel Emery married a Minnie Emily Ellis and their last child, Annie, was born in Roadwater, according to 1901 census.
Is Roadwater near Old cleeve? as apparently the family were there in 1901 for the census. The other 2 children are Florence Emily 1897 and Lily born 1895 both born in my home town of Barnstaple.

Debbi :)

Dearest Kris,

please dont spend your time looking pre 1901 as I have every Emery on my tree done and dusted flower.

Its pre 1861 for Thomas Emery that baffles me

Sometime before 1835, a Gould or a May,  and an Emery married in the neighbourhood of Puxton. I can't be sure, but I think that the Emery was female. Has anyone a record?
