Title: John Nesbitt 1851/1861 Lookup Request

I'm looking for John Nesbitt born circa 1834 in North Shields. Sorry i don't know any other details than this. He did marry in 1864, and i have his details from the 1881. It would be great if me and my cousin could find out who his parents/siblings are.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Could you tell us his wife's name?  any children?  There are a few John Nesbitts'.  ;)

He didn't marry till 1864, so it wouldn't be relevant in 1861. At the moment we know absolutely nothing about his parents/siblings. All we know is the dates from the 1881 when his wife was Jane Elizabeth.

a John NESBITT, unmarried, age 29, Ordinary Seaman, is aboarda ship "Hylton" at Holyhead, Anglesey.

Margaret NESBITT, Head, Widow, age 56, Housekeeper, born Hull, Yorkshire
John NESBITT, son, 18, Boat Builders Apprentice, b. North Shields.

1841 Census:  North Street, North Shields.  Ref: HO107/825/10 fo 7. p 7:

John NESBITT, 43, Teacher
Margaret NESBITT, 45
Elizabeth NESBITT, 13

It looks like you will need to get John's marriage certificate to verify his father's name and occupation before you could claim these as yours.

The two entries Trini has given you for the 1851 and 1841 census returns are in fact our ancesters. But our John Nesbitt - who was a mariner - married in 1856 and had 2 children David and John before his wife died. He then remarried in 1865 but she also died. he spent most of his time in China.
Looks like your John Nesbitt may be the one who was aboard ship at Anglesey
